Paper Plate Restaurant started when my brother Chef Quan and I had a shared desire to write our own chapter in hospitality, after 15 years of calling Melbourne home.
We grew up in a small Saigon district, where street snacks by local vendors were a delightful part of our childhood memories. I remember eating sticky rice out of banana leaves from the local street vendors and bringing home Vietnamese bread rolls wrapped in yesterday's newspaper - packaging wasn't a thing back in those days.
When we found a little shopfront on Bridge Road, Richmond, we named it Paper Plate Restaurant and began our journey to bring back those childhood memories of us enjoying Vietnamese street food.
We believe that taste should not take a backseat to presentation. We offer a selection of dishes that are inspired by exotic and flavourful foods from both the old and modern streets of Vietnam. Fresh and brightly coloured dishes that are served up with family pride.
We hope you enjoy your dining experience with us.
